Beginning with Javascript & jQuery

Why jQuery?

With the rise of Javascript usage in web development, a multi purpose library was the missing link between the web designer and the multitude of options it offered. In mid 2006, John Resig created jQuery in an attempt to fill this gap. jQuery is a lightweight, "write less, do more", JavaScript library. Its purpose is to make it much easier to use Javascript on your website. jQuery takes a lot of common tasks that require many lines of JavaScript code to accomplish, and wraps them into methods that you can call with a single line of code, at the same time simplifying a lot of the complicated things from JavaScript, like AJAX calls and DOM manipulation.
With its moderate learning curve, large community and extensive documentation, jQuery is the right tool for beginners but also experienced developers. A proof of jQuery’s popularity as the most popular Javascript library can be seen in almost half of the websites on the Internet. From gallery scripts and form validators, to complex single page applications, jQuery suits every developers' need.
