Course description

In the training through the two programs from the Cоdemonkey platform - Coding Adventure and Dodo Does Math, students are introduced to programming and programming concepts.

Coding Adventure is a game-based course that teaches kids how to code in a real coding language. The course provides an easy entry into text-based coding.

Coding Adventure uses the programming language of CoffeeScript. CoffeeScript is like JavaScript and it is primarily used for web applications; however, it has a much friendlier syntax that resembles the way we write in English - making it the perfect programming language for kids.

Coding Adventure covers coding concepts in a fun and gamified manner. The coding concepts are:

Objects
Variables
Array and indexes
Loops
Boolean Logic
Comparisons
Functions
Return Values
Triggering Events

In Dodo Does Math program students will use a real coding language CoffeeScript, to solve different math puzzles. In this program students will practice the next math concepts distances, addition and subtraction, multiplication, measurement, and angles.

Training objectives

Students will become familiar with coding, gain skills, and learn to think in a programming way. They will develop critical thinking and understand the essence of the problems, followed by developing their patience in programming. Students will learn to represent and interpret data to which they will apply mathematical and geometric concepts, and they will learn to evaluate, define, and implement functions that will use it as a set of instructions to solve a real problem. Students will participate in teamwork and group learning activities; thus, developing critical thinking ability, creativity, and self-confidence.
